At Washington Crossing Historic Park, you can watch living historians demonstrate their crafts and see a military encampment from noon to 4 PM on Thursday, July 4. A highlight of the day will be readings of the Declaration of Independence at 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM. Additionally,Join historian and author David Price as he explores the iconic “Ten Crucial Days” winter campaign of 1776-77, a defining moment in the American Revolution. David presents a thematic analysis of the campaign, focusing on five key factors that played a pivotal role in shaping its outcome: leadership, geography, weather, artillery, and contingency. Rather than offering a traditional chronological account, David examines how these overlapping elements combined to thwart British plans at a critical juncture in the war, enabling George Washington’s army to achieve a series of pivotal victories and turn the tide of the Revolution.
David offers a fresh perspective on this legendary campaign, drawing from his latest book, Winning the Ten Crucial Days: The Keys to Victory in George Washington’s Legendary Winter Campaign. Renowned historians have praised the work for its insightful analysis and unique approach. This event provides an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how these five factors worked in concert to transform the course of American history.
David has produced multiple books and scholarly articles relating to the War of Independence, and his work has earned numerous accolades, including recognition from the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
