Fall Photo Contest
While you’re visiting Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA) this fall, snap a photo that captures the essence of autumn for a chance to see your photo on display in our Visitor Center. You could even win a $50 gift certificate to the Washington Crossing Inn!
What can I take a picture of?
As long as your picture shows off Washington Crossing Historic Park, the sky’s the limit! Try to capture the essence of autumn at the park—you can include scenery, buildings, animals, or people at the park.
Please keep the following in mind:
- Your photo must be taken at the park during the month of October 2017. This gives everyone the same opportunity to take a great fall photo. The submission form will be open from October 1-31.
- If you choose to include park visitors in your photo, you are responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals depicted and must be able to provide copies of those releases to us upon request.
- Washington Crossing Historic Park does not include Delaware Canal State Park, Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, the Washington Crossing bridge, or the park across the river in New Jersey. Photos of these areas will not be considered.
Can I Photoshop my photo? Can I use a filter?
Yes, you may retouch your photo. Remember, however, that even though Photoshop and similar imaging software has become a common tool for processing images, it is not a substitute for good photography. The contest judges are professionals looking for photos that capture the essence of fall at the park, so it’s in your best interests to edit or retouch photos sparingly.
How will my photo be judged?
All entries will be judged on originality, artistic merit, and how well the photos capture the essence of fall at the park. The 10 best photos from all the entries will be framed and displayed in the Visitor Center in late November.
We’ll also post the 10 best photos on our official Facebook page, and the public can vote for one People’s Choice winner by liking their favorite photo on the page. The photo with the most likes will be named the People’s Choice winner, and the photographer will win a $50 gift certificate to the Washington Crossing Inn.
Will you use my photo for anything else?
You retain ownership rights to the photograph you submit. By entering the contest, you grant the Friends of Washington Crossing Park the right to use your photo to promote the park in print media, on our website, on social media, and in other channels as needed.
I have another question about the Capture the Park photo contest.
