Jazz Concert on the Riverbank
The Friends of Washington Crossing Park (PA) and the historic Newtown Theatre are teaming up to present a free outdoor jazz concert on Saturday, May 27 from 6 to 8 PM. The concert will be held on the banks of the Delaware River near the park’s visitor center. The Triple Ts, a Philadelphia jazz-fusion trio, will play a mix of original music and jazz standards. Opening for the Triple Ts will be the Council Rock South Concert Jazz Band. Attendees are welcome to bring their own picnic dinner, chairs, and blankets. Alcohol is not permitted in the state park. Washington Crossing Historic Park will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremony on Sunday, May 28 at 1 PM at the gravesite of Continental soldiers located near the Thompson-Neely House. The observation will include a colonial color guard, fife and drum music, Revolutionary War reenactors, veterans, and other honored guests. After the dedication, American flags will be placed on the graves. The gravesite marks the resting place of soldiers who died during the Continental army’s December 1776 encampment in Bucks County. Dr. Leibiger analyzes the rise and fall of the friendship and political collaboration between these two Revolutionary Statesmen. In honor of Juneteenth on June 17, Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA) will host several free special events and activities that will educate visitors about the contribution of African American soldiers during the American Revolution. Lecture: Black Soldiers of the American Revolution The day will begin at 3:30 PM in the park’s Visitor Center auditorium with a free lecture that will highlight the experience of Black soldiers during the American Revolution. Independence Day Celebration: Colonial Field Day
Round up your family or friends for a spirited colonial competition at Colonial Field Day on Saturday, July 1 10:00-11:30 from 1:00-2:30. Try your hand at playing some popular games from the 18th century, including cup and ball, Jacob’s Ladder, hoop and stick, and more! The winning family will receive a family membership to the Friends of Washington Crossing Park. Participants will also receive a hands-on craft kit, including the opportunity to make your own toy or game. Space is very limited for this event. 1.5hr sessions will begin at 10:00 and 1:00.

As part of its annual Independence Day celebration, Washington Crossing Historic Park invites classic car owners to compete in the fifth annual Rebels & Redcoats Classic Car Show on Sunday, July 2 from 10 AM to 2 PM. This unique show features American, French, British and German cars, representing the four countries involved in the Revolutionary War. Classic show-condition cars from model years 1998 and earlier are welcome in this class. There will also be an open class for cars of any make, model, and year. Celebrate Independence Day by bringing the whole family back in time—to July 4, 1776! At Washington Crossing Historic Park, you can watch living historians demonstrate their crafts and see a military encampment from noon to 4 PM on Tuesday, July 4.
