Crossing Reenactments

Friends of Washington Crossing Park will host three major community-wide celebrations in 2026, offering residents a chance to come together in a once-in-a-lifetime Semiquincentennial celebration. These events include an enhanced Independence Day Celebration and two December Crossing Reenactments, extending the excitement and commemorative spirit through the end of the year.
Our Crossing reenactments have evolved significantly over recent years. Recent enhancements include a flying hospital, followers’ encampment, a period sutlery, and officers’ wives tea in partnership with On the Army’s Strength, all aimed at better interpreting the contributions of women. In 2024, the 4th Dragoon Regiment portrayed mounted militia. For 2025, we partnered with Living History Co., guided by a year-long research fellowship, to introduce site-specific interpretation celebrating Black soldiers and civilians. These improvements ensure a richer, more inclusive portrayal of Revolutionary-era contributions and draw thousands to experience history firsthand.
Estimated Completion: December 2026
