As we step into the nation’s and the crossing’s 250th anniversary this year, the Friends of Washington Crossing Park (FWCP) are proud to share that we have received several new and generous grants. These funds are helping us expand living history experiences, improve accessibility and educational offerings, and promote Washington Crossing Historic Park to new and returning audiences as this historic milestone approaches.
The Durham Boat Project
FWCP, in partnership with the Independence Seaport Museum, is constructing a full-scale replica Durham boat that visitors will be able to climb aboard as part of a new interpretive trail at the park. This immersive, hands-on installation will serve as a centerpiece of the park’s expanded living history experiences for the 250th anniversary, allowing visitors to imagine the preparation, courage, and craftsmanship behind Washington’s historic crossing of the Delaware.
Support for this project has been provided by:
- Bucks County Foundation: $6,000
- Albert W. Bader Foundation: $5,000
Additional Grants Supporting 250th Anniversary Programming
Foundations Community Partnership (Bucks Innovation & Improvement Grant): $3,000
This grant supports the creation of sensory kits for park visitors and students participating in field trips. With more than 10,000 students visiting the park each year, these kits will help ensure our educational programming is welcoming, accessible, and engaging for learners of all abilities.
Bucks County Tourism Grant Program: $28,800
These funds support marketing and promotional efforts for FWCP’s 2026 initiatives, including social media and digital outreach. This investment ensures broad regional and national awareness of the park as a central destination for Semiquincentennial programming.
Church & Dwight Employee Giving Fund: $8,000
This grant recognizes FWCP’s ongoing impact in the community and supports continued growth of our educational, interpretive, and visitor experience initiatives during the 250th anniversary period.
Together, these grants represent a powerful investment in the future of the park. We are deeply grateful to our funding partners for their confidence in our work and their commitment to preserving and sharing this extraordinary history.
We look forward to sharing more updates as these projects continue to take shape and invite you to be part of this historic moment by supporting our efforts. To learn more about our 2026 initiatives and see how these projects are already coming to life, visit Washington Crossing 2026 Initiatives.
