Creation of an Officer’s Quarters at Frye House and Soldier’s Camp

In 2025, the Friends of Washington Crossing Park launched our new Rescuing the Revolution Field Trip Program in partnership with Americana Corner’s  Preserving America Initiative. This action-packed, full-day experience begins at Washington Crossing Historic Park and ends at Princeton Battlefield, NJ, immersing students in the pivotal events of December 1776 to January 1777. Through living history, storytelling, and hands-on activities, students retrace “The Ten Crucial Days” that reignited the American Revolution.

To bring this story vividly to life, a new 18th-century encampment has been created across from our Frye House, featuring brush huts, a baggage wagon, authentic accoutrements, and a period camp kitchen. The Frye House itself has been transformed into officers’ quarters, featuring commissioned pieces crafted by Bryant White, a renowned 18th-century fabricator and furniture maker. Selected for his extensive experience, including work for Fort Ticonderoga and current collaborations with the Smithsonian Institution, White’s craftsmanship ensures that this immersive setting reflects the highest level of historical accuracy and interpretive quality.

In addition to serving field trip visitors, these new interpretive spaces are now featured in our monthly living history programs, Washington’s Birthday, the Independence Day Celebration, and the annual Crossing reenactments. At our 2025 Independence Day Celebration, more than 1,500 guests explored these immersive new areas as part of the public experience.
