Independence Day Celebration
Friends of Washington Crossing Park will host three major community-wide celebrations in 2026, creating spaces where local residents can come together to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime Semiquincentennial celebration. These events include an enhanced Independence Day Celebration and two December Crossing Reenactments, extending the excitement and commemorative spirit through the end of the year.
For 2026, our annual Independence Day Celebration welcomed an estimated 10,000 visitors, a dramatic increase from approximately 1,500-1,600 attendees in 2025. The day featured immersive, family-friendly activities designed to deepen understanding of civic values and the principles of the Declaration of Independence, including dramatic readings, living history demonstrations, blacksmith demonstrations, children’s military drills, quill pen writing and Declaration signing.
The event concluded with the return of a large-scale fireworks display which received an overwhelmingly positive community response and helped introduce thousands of first-time visitors to Washington Crossing Historic Park.
