Let’s Draw George Washington!

January 3rd, 2020 News and Events

Help George Washington celebrate his 292nd birthday! Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA) invites artists 12 and younger to enter our Let’s Draw George Washington contest.

What Should I Draw?

First, draw a picture of George Washington. You can draw Washington at any age, in any historical situation. Or give him a brand-new portrait that could be hung in an art gallery. Be creative! Washington himself and Washington Crossing Historic Park staff will evaluate all entries.

Please note that we’re looking for drawings that can be framed and displayed on a wall, not three-dimensional artwork.

How Do I Enter?

When your historical masterpiece is ready, neatly write the following information on the back of the drawing:

    1. The artist’s full name
    2. The artist’s home address and phone number
    3. The artist’s age (prizes offered to ages 12 and younger, but George welcomes submissions from everyone!)

To submit your artwork, bring the finished product to George Washington’s birthday party on February 18. If you can’t attend, mail your entry before the party to:

Friends of Washington Crossing Park
1112 River Road
Washington Crossing, PA 18977

All submissions must be received on or before Washington’s birthday party on February 18. Entries that do not include the artist’s name, address, phone number and age on the back will not be considered for prizes. Please do not submit entries via email or social media.

What Can I Win?

Submissions will be judged in two categories: ages 7 and younger, and ages 8-12. Entries are welcome from artists of all ages, but only children 12 and younger are eligible for prizes.

Park staff will select three winners in each category. The winning drawings will be displayed in the park Visitor Center, and winning artists will receive a family tour of the park, including Bowman’s Hill Tower, which commemorates a possible look-out site used by the Continental Army.
