Virtual BSA Bird Study Merit Badge Program
This virtual Merit Badge program is designed to provide Scouts the opportunity to continue working on merit badge requirements and to achieve a new merit badge in one month! This virtual program will take place through digital media and will not require an in-person meeting. Scouts will be able to complete merit badge requirements at home with family while practicing social distancing. Scouts who are participating will maintain in contact with the merit badge counselor and present requirements via email. Another mystery Pennsylvania animal is making tracks at Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA). Your family’s mission, should you chose to accept it, is to identify it! On this month's adventure, you'll find a series of five different clues at the park. Each clue contains a word or phrase that will help you figure out the mystery animal. See if you have what it takes to have your name added to our Iron Hikers list for 2021! Each month, Washington Crossing Historic Park will release a new self-guided Healthy Hike Challenge designed for individuals or families who consider themselves advanced hikers. Each challenge will include a map with further instructions for your quest. On the hike, you’ll be challenged on your observational skills, knowledge of nature and the outdoors, and total hiking time. On Wednesday, April 14 at 6 PM, experience an April springtime evening along the trails of Washington Crossing Historic Park and the Delaware Canal Towpath. Accompany the Park Naturalist and discover sights and sounds that may be new to you as we discuss natural history topics such as amphibians, reptiles, and migratory birds. Please prepare yourself for this program by wearing sturdy footwear, bringing a full water bottle, and reviewing the park map before traveling. Registration for this program is required by emailing mtruesdale@pa.gov by 4 PM on Tuesday, April 13. The meeting place will be provided upon registration.

Mornings are your best opportunity to experience the thrilling world of birdwatching and listening. Join the park naturalist for a guided walk along the Delaware Canal Towpath as we look and listen for migratory avian friends.
