Canal Eco Paddle

Join Washington Crossing Historic Park’s environmental educator on a relaxing paddle northward on the Delaware Canal on Saturday, August 11, from 11 AM to 1 PM. We’ll stop every so often to investigate and discuss the plants growing along the banks while on the lookout for turtles and waterfowl. Kayaks, paddles and personal flotation devices will be provided. Feel free to bring your own binoculars and field guides. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person for this program. Learn basic paddling skills while kayaking on the Delaware Canal on Sunday, August 12, from 11 AM to 12:30 PM. We’ll start out on land to familiarize ourselves with the parts of a kayak, basic paddling technique and water safety, then take to the water to try out what we’ve learned. This program is an ideal way to learn the skills you’ll need to kayak on your own or join us again for a longer paddle of the canal or river. Just for Kids: Animal Traces

Kids of all ages are invited to stop by the nature table outside the Visitor Center from 1 to 2:30 PM on Monday, August 13. Learn how to tell what animal has visited by using the traces they leave behind! Visitors will interact with real and synthetic animal pelts and 3D rubber replicas of real animal tracks while learning about the mammals that can be found in our area. Are you up for an exciting morning of nature?  Team up with Washington Crossing Historic Park's naturalist for a morning hike full of unknowns! Natural history topics will be discussed throughout the program as they are encountered. Registration is required by emailing mtruesdale@pa.gov. Make sure to register as a group if more than one person is coming with you. All participants must follow CDC guidelines and bring a mask with them in order to attend. All programs are restricted to 25 participants.

Hiking is a great way to improve your physical and mental health! Join the park naturalist for a quickly paced 2.5 mile hike along the trails of Washington Crossing Historic Park. This hike is rated moderate/hard as the terrain will be mostly even and steep in spots. Prepare yourself for the day by bringing a full water bottle, wearing sturdy shoes, and dressing for the weather. Registration is required no later than 4 PM on Monday, August 3. Please email mtruesdale@pa.gov to register. Make sure to register as a group if more than one person is coming with you.
