Administrative Assistant (Full-Time)
Administrative Assistant
Reports To: Executive Director
Compensation: $42,000–$48,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week), generally Monday through Friday. Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required to support organizational events, Board meetings, and other operational needs.
Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and organizational support to the Executive Director while assisting departments across the organization as needed. This position serves as a central administrative resource, helping ensure efficient office operations, effective communication, accurate recordkeeping, and successful coordination of organizational priorities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage calendars, scheduling, correspondence, and meeting logistics.
- Prepare Board and committee materials and maintain meeting records.
- Maintain organizational files, databases, and administrative records.
- Coordinate office operations, purchasing, mail, and supplies.
- Assist with contracts, reports, presentations, and departmental projects.
- Support donor, membership, volunteer, and program administration.
- Assist with onboarding paperwork, personnel records, and administrative procedures.
- Support special events and organization-wide initiatives.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Two or more years of administrative support experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and cloud-based software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
- Experience in a nonprofit or museum environment is a plus.
Historical Interpreter (One Full-Time and One Part-Time Seasonal Position Available)
Reports To: Director of Operations
Compensation:
- Full-Time: $38,000–$45,000 annually
- Part-Time (Seasonal, April–December): $12–$15 per hour
Compensation is based on qualifications and experience.
Schedule:
- Full-Time: Tuesday through Saturday (40 hours/week). Includes Visitor Services administrative responsibilities and support for major organizational events and holidays.
- Part-Time: Flexible schedule of 2–3 days per week, generally 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., including at least one weekend day.
Position Summary
The Historical Interpreter brings the story of Washington Crossing Historic Park to life through guided tours, educational programs, demonstrations, and engaging visitor interactions. Interpreters serve as ambassadors for the park, creating welcoming, informative, and memorable experiences for visitors of all ages.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct guided tours and interpretive programs.
- Engage visitors through formal and informal interpretation.
- Present educational activities, demonstrations, and living history programs.
- Assist with admissions, visitor services, and park operations.
- Support opening and closing historic buildings and interpretive sites.
- Help maintain interpretive spaces and program materials.
- Support special events, public programs, and organizational initiatives.
- Represent Friends of Washington Crossing Park with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Qualifications
- Interest in history, museums, education, public history, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
- Comfortable interacting with visitors of all ages.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and special events.
- A degree in history, public history, education, museum studies, or a related field is preferred but not required. Equivalent education, training, and experience will be considered.
Historic Farmstead Assistant (Part-Time, Year-Round)
Reports To: Director of Education
Compensation: $15–$18 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
Schedule: Flexible, year-round position averaging 15–25 hours per week. Schedule may include weekdays, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Position Summary
The Historic Farmstead Assistant supports the daily operation, maintenance, and interpretation of the Thompson-Neely Farmstead. This position assists with animal care, historic agriculture, educational programming, volunteer activities, and visitor engagement while helping preserve and interpret 18th-century farm life.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for livestock, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring animal health.
- Assist with maintaining barns, fencing, gardens, pastures, trails, and historic grounds.
- Support historically accurate agricultural demonstrations and seasonal projects.
- Assist with school programs, public programs, tours, and living history events.
- Engage visitors through interpretation of 18th-century farming, agriculture, and animal husbandry.
- Assist with volunteer coordination and workdays.
- Support major organizational events and educational initiatives.
Qualifications
- Interest in agriculture, animal care, history, education, or related fields.
- Ability to safely lift 50 pounds and perform outdoor physical work in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and special events.
- A degree in agriculture, animal science, history, education, environmental studies, or a related field is preferred but not required. Equivalent education, training, and experience will be considered.
