New Introduction Film for the Visitor Center

In partnership with the award-winning Wide Awake Films, producers of acclaimed historical films currently featured at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, we are creating a powerful new introductory film for the Washington Crossing Historic Park Visitor Center.

Drawing on the latest historical scholarship and brought to life through striking modern cinematography, this immersive film will place visitors in the midst of the dramatic events of December 1776 and explore the Crossing’s pivotal role in the American Revolution. Designed for both first-time visitors and longtime history enthusiasts, the film will provide essential historical context while also forging a strong emotional connection to the people and sacrifices behind this defining moment.

Once completed, the film will be shown daily in the Visitor Center theater, reaching tens of thousands of visitors each year and becoming a cornerstone of how guests begin their experience at the park. This marks the first major update to the current introductory film since 2000, more than 25 years ago, making it a transformative investment in how visitors experience and understand Washington Crossing Historic Park.

This exciting project is being brought to life thanks to the generous support of the Philadelphia Funder Collaborative for the Semiquincentennial, Joe Moglia, and Visit Bucks County Tourism Grant Program.

Estimated Completion: July 2026

Take a behind-the-scenes look at filming for our new Visitor Center introduction film, shot January 17–18 during a beautifully cold and snowy winter weekend at the park. Featuring reenactors, horses, encampment scenes, and interior moments filmed across the historic village and the Thompson-Neely Farm, these photos offer a glimpse into how this powerful new film is coming together and the incredible teamwork bringing history to life.
