At the start of 2026, the Friends of Washington Crossing Park (FWCP) welcomed Julia Rentsch as its new Development Coordinator.
In this role, Julia will support FWCP’s development initiatives, providing administrative support to our Membership program, assisting with grant writing and reporting, designing graphics, and community outreach. Julia will also be helping out at events as we celebrate the 250th all year long!
Julia’s passion for history began while volunteering at Princeton Battlefield State Park. Hearing the park historian’s compelling tale of the Ten Crucial Days’ contributions to the Continental Army’s victory, she learned that Revolutionary War history was far more dynamic than what she had learned in school.
Julia brings a background in mission-driven work. As a former journalist, she is passionate about the value of quality information and education, and is committed to helping bring them to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Julia graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in journalism and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Communication Research at Rutgers University. In her free time, Julia is an avid reader and enjoys hanging out with her fiancé, Will, and their three cats, as well as participating in community choir and theatre.
When asked what she finds most rewarding about her work, Julia shared:
“Helping to further the Park’s role as an educational destination where people of all ages can experience not just the story of the Crossing, but also the place where it occurred, is incredibly rewarding! The idea of ‘felt history’ suggests that visitors’ takeaways are more powerful when they are able to experience the places and objects of the era, as well as our reenactors’ portrayals, all things our park does incredibly well. I am proud that my role helps keep these valuable educational programs going in perpetuity!”
