“Big Sit” Birding Circle

October 9, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 3:30 pm

Free

Join the park’s naturalist for an entire day of birding action as part of the 2020 Bird Watcher’s Digest “Big Sit.” This is an international non-competitive bird species count that helps ornithologists worldwide. “Big Sit” participants count as many different bird species as they’re able to hear or see from a stationary location, and the data collected from each site are uploaded to a global database.

Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just looking to get into the hobby, you’re invited to spend a relaxing day at our “Big Sit” birding circle on Friday, October 9, from 8 AM to 3:30 PM.

The birding circle opens at 8 AM. We’ll have a short walk and a Birding for Beginners talk from 10-11 AM, a talk on Spring Prep for Birds and attracting birds to your backyard from 1-2 PM, and a wrap-up species report at 3:30 PM.

Registration is required no later than 4 PM on Thursday, October 8. Please call 215-493-4076 ext. 113 or email mtruesdale@pa.gov to register or ask questions.

The meeting location will be provided upon registration.
