Washington Crossing 2026 Initiatives
Don’t Miss the Boat for a Once-in-a-Lifetime Celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary!
The Countdown to 2026
December 25, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of a pivotal moment in our nation’s founding: George Washington’s daring crossing of the Delaware River. This courageous act, and the military victories that followed, turned the tide of the American Revolution and changed the course of American history forever.
In preparation for this once-in-a-lifetime milestone, Friends of Washington Park is creating a dynamic, world-class visitor experience at the park.
Friends of Washington Crossing Park’s History and Commitment
In 2009, a dedicated group of Bucks County citizens, now the Friends of Washington Crossing Park, stepped forward to support the Park by forming a 501(c) 3 to continue the educational programming and other activities. Each year, the Friends hosts a variety of programs and events, including the annual Christmas Crossing reenactments, which draw over 12,000 attendees. We welcome more than 10,000 students for Colonial Days field trips and provide living history programs, guided tours, and interpretive experiences for the 750,000 visitors who come to the park annually, bringing to life the crucial history that unfolded here.
Leading up to 2026, Friends of Washington Crossing Park is working on a number of exciting projects to enhance the visitor experience, promote community engagement and ensure that we are providing the best possible visitor experience.
These enhancements build on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s 2022 renovation of eleven historic structures at Washington Crossing Historic Park. This year, DCNR and the award-winning 106 Group will install a new interpretive trail with eight stops featuring original artwork, historical information, and stories of the heroes behind the crossing.

With continued state budget constraints and shifting legislative priorities, our community’s investment will define the legacy we’re able to leave for the next generation. With your help, we can preserve our country’s amazing story and shared heritage and help position Washington Crossing Historic Park as one of the most important historical sites in our region.

The 250th anniversary of our country and Washington’s Crossing of the Delaware is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to honor the bravery, dedication, and lasting legacy of George Washington and the Continental Army’s pivotal victories that began at this site and changed the future of the pursuit of independence. I’m proud to support the Friends of Washington Crossing Park’s Project for 2026 to help bring this milestone to life.
This campaign isn’t just about honoring the past – it’s about investing in the future through preservation, dynamic educational programs, and powerful community celebrations that will inspire pride and patriotism for generations to come.
