Hiking is a great way to improve your physical and mental health! Join the park naturalist for a quickly paced 2 mile hike along the trails of WCHP. Please keep in mind that these hikes are intended to maintain a quick hiking pace. Prepare yourself for the day by bringing a full water bottle, wearing sturdy shoes, and dressing for the weather! Take a 2-mile walk on the canal towpath after sunset and enjoy the sights and sounds of a spring night! These programs are designed for toddlers ages 3-7 and build on children’s sense of wonder about nature, inviting them to explore wildlife and the world around them. Learn the beautiful art of flower pressing and preserve a piece of summer forever! Park horticulturist, Anna Davis, will teach the various methods of pressing during this workshop. The class will assemble their own press so they can and continue what they have learned at home. Once presses are assembled, we will proceed to our 18th century kitchen garden to collect two to three flowers to use in your new press.  The last hour of the workshop we will discuss various ways to use pressed flowers creatively at home. Let’s see what we can catch in the creek! Grab your stream shoes and team up with the Park Naturalist for an evening of watershed education! Help identify the aquatic insects and other creatures that live within the creek. Nets will be provided, but you can bring your own. Water shoes/boots must be worn at all times.
