Join us for a series of Living History programs that we will be conducting in the park on Fridays in April - June, and then Fridays and Saturdays in July - September. These programs will cover a variety of of topics surrounding the life of Soldiers and civilians during the American Revolution. Demonstrations will take place at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30pm. Reenactors and demonstrators will discuss the topic/activity they are portraying while also providing context for how this would effect life during the American Revolution.

Wheat and Sheep Day 2024

On Saturday, April 20 from 10 AM to 4 PM, watch as the Thompson-Neely sheep are shorn of their wool and tour the grist mill at this family friendly event. This limited event will include a trip to the barn for a hand shearing presentation as well as period demonstrations and tours of our historic Grist Mill. Bluebird Bonanza

During this program participants will have the opportunity to learn about Eastern Bluebirds & the other cavity-nesting species that call Washington Crossing Home. After a short walk and quick look inside an active cavity nest, participants will have the opportunity to construct their own nesting box to take home! This program is free and is designed for individuals and families of all ages. Tools and equipment provided. Registration is required and space is limited. Tea in the Garden

Tea in the Garden is an event for adults and their children to learn a little history while having a lot of fun out in our historic garden. Children ages 7-12 will learn about our favorite 18th century herbs and have the joyful opportunity to create their own tea and drink it in 18th century fashion. Kids will receive either a mob cap bonnet or tricorne patriot hat to wear through the tea party and take home as a souvenir. Charcoal Burn

Washington Crossing Historic Park and many volunteers will recreate the “lost art” of turning wood into charcoal, just as the furnace colliers did over a century ago. The continuous demonstration will begin Saturday at 12:00pm with preparation of the hearth, stacking of the wood, and covering the pit with leaves and dirt. The lighting off of the pit will take place about 1:00pm. The pit will burn continuously into Sunday morning, and will end with raking the coal out on Sunday morning beginning at 9:00am.
