Tea in the Garden is an event for adults and their children to learn a little history while having a lot of fun out in our historic garden. Children ages 7-12 will learn about our favorite 18th century herbs and have the joyful opportunity to create their own tea and drink it in 18th century fashion. Kids will receive either a mob cap bonnet or tricorne patriot hat to wear through the tea party and take home as a souvenir. Charcoal Burn

Washington Crossing Historic Park and many volunteers will recreate the “lost art” of turning wood into charcoal, just as the furnace colliers did over a century ago. The continuous demonstration will begin Saturday at 12:00pm with preparation of the hearth, stacking of the wood, and covering the pit with leaves and dirt. The lighting off of the pit will take place about 1:00pm. The pit will burn continuously into Sunday morning, and will end with raking the coal out on Sunday morning beginning at 9:00am. Do you have a young nature lover in your family who’s curious to learn more about the natural environment? Join the Park Naturalist for a morning of growing up on the wild side! These programs are designed for toddlers ages 3-7 and build on children’s sense of wonder about nature, inviting them to explore wildlife and the world around them. Let’s see what we can catch in the creek! Historic Pidcock Creek was and still is the main source of power for the historic Thompson-Neely Grist Mill. Grab your stream shoes and team up with the Park Naturalist for a morning of watershed education! Help identify the aquatic insects and other creatures that live within the creek. Join the celebration on Sunday, May 26 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm as we unveil the NEW Eliza Taylor Pollinator Garden at Washington Crossing Historic Park!  This program is in partnership with the local Girl Scouts, Troop 226. Follow along and discover how 2 local Girl Scouts worked to earn their Silver Award as they teach you all about pollinators, perennials, and the importance of native pollinator gardens! Learn the beautiful art of flower pressing and preserve a piece of summer forever! Park horticulturist, Anna Davis, will teach the various methods of pressing during this workshop.
